Sir Tom Hunter: A billion reasons to listen

It's not often that one is in the presence of a billionaire but I was this week when entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter, ranked 68th in 2008's Sunday Times Rich List, delivered the keynote address at Good Deals, the UK's first national conference on social investment.

Listening to his speech sat in the balcony overlooking the stage in the London Symphony Orchestra's impressive HQ, I was struck that the 47-year-old Scot doesn't look like someone who's worth £1.05bn; he's not dripping in bling, he doesn't ooze arrogance and he isn't tracked by a string of staff tending to his every need.
